The pre-alpine highlands between Veneto and Trentino are places where nature and history intertwine in an indissoluble way. In these places, isolated from more populated areas, the language and traditions of the ancient population of the Cimbri is still preserved.
The cimbrian language is a Germanic language of Nordic origin and is still spoken in some areas of these highlands. Cimbrian culture is rich of myths and legends coming mainly from northern Europe.
This project wants to explore the relationship between man and nature which has established itself in these places throughout the centuries.
The Cimbrian community, constitutes a bridge between past and future, and between reality and fantasy; through legends, traditions and their unique language.
This is the reason why it is the focus of this project, which I have called “Where the Echo Still Resounds”: the name is an acknowledgement of the echo of the legends, which comes from the past and that progressively fades away until it disappears.
This echo lives and still resonates in the memory of a few people and, especially in some places, is pervaded by an immortal and enchanted aura. The intent is also to try bringing back to life through photographs the memories of a past times when man lived according to Nature, respecting and venerating her.
