Bikur Holim hospital was built in the mid-19th century in the old city of Jerusalem and in 1925 relocated to its current location on Hanevi'im street at the city center. Following an economic crisis, at 2012 the hospital has shut down most of its departments and only the maternity ward remained active during the last years. The main building was left vacant.
Out of interest in the condition of the building nowadays and the use of it, I discovered that lately it is rented by ״Orayta", an orthodox jewish college (Yeshiva) for Hasidic males. The Yeshiva counts around 100 students living in improvised rooms inside the hospital.
The photographic work deals with the interior of the hospital as a historic building in Jerusalem that was used by its residents for many years. The use of the building today, in contrast to its original use and the way people treat it, is examined through the photographs.
