In the difficult and uncertain identity formation path, when there are no positive images that give a positive impact of oneself, great difficulties can be met. These difficulties, in addition to creating fear, lay the groundwork for a bad development of self-perception and undermine from its roots the self-esteem formation, since identifying with the negative perception that the community has, of us, you end up believing that you have no value at all.
Do we live at the boundaries of our potential or are we hindered by others on our path? In my case we can talk about self-sabotage. The identity you give yourself, gets the part to the point that it does not matter how much you try to escape: it is upon you like a shadow.
Then you are at a crossroads; you can accept the challenge of change or not. An important step that allows you not to continue to live passively the difficulties and not to carry around the past as a heavy luggage. If you give in to the fear, you end up identifying yourself with this false image all life long; if you have the courage to face yourself, you can gradually free yourself from the alienation constraints.
The Ugly Duckling is the representation of an apparent silence that hides long inner monologues.
