Collectus is a visual investigation born from the semantic and etymological analysis of the word collection.
The photographic project offers a reflection on the system of fruition of the zoo, analyzing several European zoos, including for example the two oldest ones in Italy and France, focusing not on the inhabitants of these recreational places, but on the places themselves, analyzing the layout of the spaces, the structures and their display. Redundant are the structures that, most of the time, play a double role: the first is that of an exhibition space, a place where the animal performs, in a showcase, in front of a paying audience; the second is that of a dwelling, the place where the animal is born, grows and dies.
