Marassi is a vast pre-designed resort being built over decades on the north coast of Egypt. It is a resource hungry transformation of desert and harsh coastline into luscious gardens, golf courses, crisp modernist apartments and lagoons.
Photographing this paraphernalia of leisure at various stages of development, the series presents a sketchy coming together of an ideal. Incomplete, the sedation of the architecture and planning hasn’t quite escaped the unsettling desolation of its harsh underbelly.
