In the making of this work
I felt myself reaching for something
on the inside of form;
cracks, curves, carved surfaces
flat and grooved through mechanical processes.
Scraped and struck,
blocks crumble and fall,
to earth to ashes to dust. Eternal cycles
of destruction and regeneration.
Meeting this mountain,
encountering it from within, within the landscape and within myself,
inside the multiple trajectories of folded,
slippery time and form
I was moved; altered and aware of
the curvature of time made manifest
in the gleaming bone white space
of a mountain laid bare in the
stilled silence of an open wound.
In quiet corners of weekend repose
and cracks turning into crevices
and caves
the mountain was gathering itself.
