The idea of human altered landscape is a path we can follow and would make us reach our first footsteps as a species.
This series of photographs belonging to my project "Monumental", are part of a study on the intrusion and the footprint that humans leave on our planet over time. Specifically, in the form of technological landscape alterations.
The constant improvement of communication technologies and the services they offer, makes it necessary for the number of antennas in our territory to increase. In this way, in recent years and as if they were a native tree species, the existence of this type of construction in the landscape has been normalized and accepted.
In Galicia, where these photographs are taken, 4G coverage is present in more than 99% of the territory. This makes it one of the most advanced regions in mobile broadband coverage, not only in Europe but worldwide. In the other hand its rural population density it’s very low and constantly diminishing, more than the 3/4 of the population is living in 1/5 of the territory.
With the need to register the change that I am witnessing, in the territory I inhabit and in the time in which I live, I ask questions about the permanence of our impact and the perspective that the passage of time will give us.
