Beyond line 689,000
Capucine Lageat & Antoine Perroteau
Series of color and black & white photographs, 35 mm film and medium format film.
The 689,000 line of the French rail network linked Saint-Germain-du-Puy to Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire until 1966. It was by following this abandoned line which crosses the Loire river by means of a metal bridge that we discovered this territory of central France. Here, the economic dynamic is a distant memory of which this work is a relic. The inanimate streets of the region seem to be the backdrops of an intangible fiction. Nature is omnipresent without being reassuring. While the forest is punctuated with hunter platforms, a military complex emerges on the edge. The radio antennas tell us that we have found traces of a certain modernity. Further on, the water vapor escaping from the chimneys of the nuclear power station confirms that there is indeed some activity here.
