Between the 50s and early 60s, Enrico Mattei had a holiday village built for the Eni workers, chose Borca di Cadore as the Place for the realization. Architect E. Gellner, was in charge of the design.280 villas were built , a hotel, a residence, a church (designed with the collaboration of the architect Carlo Scarpa), a camping village with wooden huts for children and a large colony for children. Mattei's was a great project to promote the sociality and well-being of his workers and their families, unfortunately Mattei died in 1962 crashing with his plane and the realization of this project slowed down. The colony with its 30000 square meters is an imposing example of beauty and constructive fantasy, a colorful and bright building in a lovely place. Regret remains for a time when businessman thought big and the well-being of their employees was an integral part of their thinking.
