Over Crest (2025) showcases a selection of photographs that depict elements of passage, obstruction, control, movement or recurrence.
Rafael Raposo Pires has created these works during daily walking dérives throughout his month long residency period in Budapest. Walking mostly within a landscape that is in the limbo towards transformation, from industrial to residential, he opts to observe details that relate to mobility, access or even leisure.
The majority of the photographs from Over Crest show the ground or elements on the surface, an exhaustive look into what was walked through during the project. Materials, textures, patterns, bumps and some worn out details are visible throughout the photographs. The project comprises nearly 200 photographs.
A selection of photographs was exhibited at Budapest Gallery during July 2025. The project was developed during an Artistic Residency, with the support of Câmara Municipal de Lisboa and Budapest Gallery.
