«BelPaese» was born from the need to redefine and capture an ethereal bond with my roots, attempting to reflect my origins in the constant ebb and flow between Italy and the places I inhabit.
Since moving to Barcelona in 2015, I have gone through different stages in relation to my geographical and cultural heritage: remembrance, nostalgia, elusion, longing.
Over time, the urge to make the distance from my homeland present grew within me, through reconstruction and memory.
The photographic exercise I propose arises as a response to questions about what it means for me to be Italian and how I see myself reflected in unfamiliar surroundings.
