New York City, one of the world's most photographed cities, tends to be overrepresented by iconic images of Manhattan with its famous skyscrapers and museums. In recent decades, as its population grew, and a new generation of immigrants arrived, the city became more dispersed and multi-centered, a collection of neighborhoods held together by the vast network of train lines comprising the subway system. Few have documented this far-flung and complex city. In this project, I have traveled to the ends of each subway line and photographed the neighborhoods around the stations. “Last Stop on this Train” is a project that seeks to present a new and more inclusive view of New York City.
