Astatale is a visual journey across the Strada Statale 106 Jonica (SS106), an Italian state highway, with a particular attention to the stretch that goes from Reggio Calabria to Rocca Imperiale Marina. On this route different visions and
emotions cross each other, those of who know it by heart and are capable of an absentminded driving, and those of who drive along this stretch for the very first time and find themselves fascinated by its landscapes and its views.
Everyone called this road "astatale" in the local dialect.
In my opinion, the "a " loses its role as an elided article to acquire the function of
a privative prefix. So a- statale is a highway not only without a state but also without a status
