I found this quote by Guy de Maupassant reading one of his writings,“One loves one's mother almost without knowing it, without understanding it, because it is as natural as living; and we feel the depth of the roots of that love only at the moment of the final separation." The mother’s theme is an unavoidable theme when it comes to literature but it is especially inevitable when it comes to women. My interest in this topic stems from my experience as a Daughter. Do we ever really know our mothers? Or are we always looking for a dialogue? Mothers are places to be and understand each other, or they remain at times unknown places to get lost. Two women in comparison, naturally linked to each other, but to a large extent unknown to each other. It’s quite an investigation, searching for the mother, through unexplored places.
Two women share frailty and rebellions, yet their sharing is reduced by the role or social forms of being mother and daughter, a relationship of harmony and love but also contrast.
