'That in the post-war period there was a desire to dance that made light' are the words of Francesco Guccini, Italian singer-songwriter, that accompany me and illuminate my thoughts in this period of isolation. I started to portray my friends in the only way I can now, through the webcam, by taking a screenshot from my computer. I have portrayed them on balconies, communal terraces, gardens, roofs or simply facing the windows: spaces that have become our only outlet on the city, the environment, and the world. They welcomed me into their homes, into their intimacy, sharing with me moments of private life, thoughts and reflections on this historical moment. I have traveled as never before in this period, sitting at my desk, reporting stories and snapshots of places near and far, which like postcards, tell of a historical moment that unites us all. A personal way to feel close to people and document an unimaginable lockdown, with the deep desire to find ourselves outside again soon, together.
