This series is about Frigga, a pagan lady, who lives close to me and presents herself as a 'witch' following the Nordic traditions. I am inspired by Frigga as a person and her story; living her life as and the surroundings she is in. She spends a lot of her time in the woods, and I was honoured to be invited to her home a few times. She believes in the power of Wodan. Wodan, also called Odin, Woden, or Wotan, is one of the principal gods in Norse mythology. From the earliest times Odin was a war god, and he appeared in heroic literature as the protector of heroes; fallen warriors joined him in Valhalla. The wolf and the raven were dedicated to him.

For the celebration of the winter solstice I attended Frigga's 'Blót' The word basically means 'worship' or 'sacrifice' and it was a sacrifice to the gods and the spirits of the land. The sacrifice often took the form of a sacramental meal or feast. There is evidence of animal sacrifice as well, but such sacrifices are now looked down upon in modern times. I was impressed by the energy which was revealed during this special feast. When playing music on invited to join and photograph their ceremonies at friends' houses are being held which sometimes leads to trances. Some of the blóts below are created and celebrated by followers of Asatru, which is a modern movement to revive the old religion of the Norsemen. Asatru is not the only Norse revival path, but it is certainly one of the more well-known ones.

I would like to show that this form of religion is still alive today and its celebrations are not only in suburban areas but also in people's backyards. I would very much love to continue her story in the near future, but Frigga is suffering from a physical poor condition momentarily and she asked me to have a little pause.
