A big part of the Dutch colonial history, has been denied. This caused ignorance in the Dutch discourse about the impact of war on future generations. I am part of this future generation, and I want to set the past free by telling my families war history. In this exposition I will show images from the family archive connected to their stories. Sharing is healing. Just think for a moment, It cannot always go well in life. Show at setbacks, That you can bear it too. If you are not comfortable with it, do not pull a sour face. Laughter is the very first Struiswijk obligation. Is it over then you say that was not too bad. And then everything is okay, And then everything is okay, And then everything is okay again. A poem from the Struiswijk cabaret, made in 1942 in a japanese internment camp
