In the Unseen circumstances series of works, Patricia Rodas metaphorically reconstructs the anxious visual sensation of moments of aggression in the home. Her work focuses on the visual aesthetic as a metaphor that represents a post-traumatic experience and certain types of emotions related to the post-traumatic experience. Landscape plays an important role in her art, it can be seen as a protective embrace or as a threatening element. In her artistic practice, she works analog with a 4x5-inch view camera shooting on film. Domestic violence is not a personal problem but very much a social issue.
