The project «I will rip your heart out» explores my ex-flatmates life and our relationship. Shot entirely in our apartment, it tells a story about love and trust and overcoming the hurt that comes with it. I follow Polina as she has fun, explores her sexuality but also rebels against adulthood. The immersion and intimacy of living together blurred the line between my life and hers. While making these pictures, I was constantly questioning myself whether I’m an observer or a participant, and the photographs meander between these points of view. The series shows portraits of Polina and her friends and lovers with a backdrop of our flat, its messiness and a special kind of shelter it provides. I question how Polina reflects on her own beauty and sex appeal and how others perceive this. The tension between the moments that we shared together, those she allowed me to capture, and those that stayed out are at the heart of this project and I believe that the photographs reflect our visions of the events that took place. My fascination is to show how things and people change over time by employing repetition and sequencing photographs into the elliptical narrative.
