‘1 of 1’ consists of 8 creative women from different social classes, ethnicities, and backgrounds. The women range from stylists to photographers and makeup artists. Suzannah put a call out on The Dots and saw her profile get featured on the platform as a result of the call out. Suzannah had a lot of interest from potential participants, and was able to narrow the number down to 8. ‘1 of 1’ consisted of a questionnaire, interviews, and a photoshoot. The primary qualitative research allowed Suzannah to gain in-depth knowledge about the participants and understand as well as empathise with their stories. The images have been unretouched, and there was not a makeup artist or stylist on board. Suzannah made this decision because she wanted the women to simply ‘come as they are’. She did not want the theatrics of having people modify or adapt the women as that would have defeated the purpose. Suzannah’s main priority was that the women were photographed in a natural way and that they were comfortable doing so. The final images extracted quotes from the interview and Suzannah hand stitched all of the images in this project. ‘1 of 1’ has also been featured on Kaltblut Magazine and UAL's Post-Grad Community platform.
