‘The emphasis on sex that currently permeates our public life – especially the enormous demand for sexual advice and therapy – attests not to our sexual freedom but to our continuing sexual frustration. People who are not hungry are not obsessed with food’ – Ellen Willis Sex has been rejected, shamed, and ridiculed in our culture and as time goes on there is less freedom and discourse of repression that develops with the rise of capitalism. This series comprises photographs of participants in the Berlin Fetish Week and individuals across South Wales into specific forms of sex. Having gained the subjects’ trust, these photographs were made collaboratively to challenge taboos around sexual desires and fetishes by capturing a sense of identity and community.
