As I went to New York City I was just wondering about how to approach photography to such an over-exposed place. I ended up using a cheap automatic compact camera, shooting without looking through the lens, just pointing my arm in the direction of the target, no programmed framing. Some of them were shot backward behind my shoulders (and they came out upside down) others with an automatic flashlight, others blurred, and so on. I wanted to get free from all the images of the city seen before and at the same time find out if it was true that anything and anyhow here pictured is already mythical. Eventually, I printed the negatives using a standard exposition for every photogram without checking whether it was correctly exposed or not, and that’s what came out.
