Photography plays an essential role in the preservation and illustration of individual memories, families, neighborhoods, and communities. Traditions are also an important ingredient of memory, especially within a historical context. Through them we can understand the genius loci of places, appreciate the human side of geography, the cultural diversity of peoples.
